Track shared expenses as a couple
Two accounts connected by email, the household budgets shared between them, and one set of figures both of you can read.
Two accounts, not one login
Each of you keeps your own account. The link between them is a connection: open People, choose Add Connection, and enter their email address. If the address has no account yet, the invitation waits for them to sign up; either way, they accept from their own side.
Share the budgets you both spend from
A connection on its own shares nothing. Sharing happens one budget at a time: open the budget, choose Edit Budget, then the Ownership tab, and add them under Members. Only people who have already accepted your connection are offered, and only the budget's owner sees the button.
Share the containers you genuinely both spend from, such as Household or Rent and bills, and leave the rest alone.
Each of you files your own spending
A member sees every expense in a shared budget, not only their own, each labelled with whoever paid, and files their own spending against it from their own account.
Privacy has an edge. For somebody else's expense, the wallet it came out of is not shown, and nothing outside the shared budget travels with it: your own wallets and the rest of your transactions stay yours.
Read the same figures
The month's figures in a shared budget cover everyone in it, while each person can still read their own share on its own. In Stats, the Budgets tab includes budgets shared with you and is the only place another person's spending is counted, so the household view lives there.
The personal stays personal
Sharing is per budget, so household spending and personal spending live in the same account without mixing. A budget you have not shared is yours alone, and nobody else can see into it.
