Terms and Conditions

Who we are

SavingStat (the "Service", "we") is a personal finance service available at savingstat.com. It is operated by a private individual based in the Netherlands (the "Operator"). You can reach the Operator at support@savingstat.com.

These Terms and Conditions (the "Terms") are the agreement between you and the Operator for your use of the Service. The Privacy Policy explains how your personal data is handled and forms part of this agreement.

Accepting these terms

By creating an account or using the Service, you accept these Terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use the Service.

Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.

When you create an account, you agree to:

  • provide accurate information and keep it up to date;
  • keep your password confidential and not share your account with others;
  • tell us promptly at support@savingstat.com if you believe someone else has accessed your account.

You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.

What the service is

SavingStat keeps a record of what you spend and what you earn. You can add records by hand, or import them from bank statement files and photos of receipts, which the Service reads with the help of artificial intelligence. You can organise records into wallets, categories, budgets and events, view statistics, work in more than one currency, and share selected budgets and events with people you invite.

The Service is a record-keeping and visualisation tool. It does not connect to your bank, does not initiate payments, and does not hold, move or manage money.

Not financial advice

The Service records, organises and displays information that you and the people you connect with put into it. Nothing in the Service is financial, investment, tax, accounting or legal advice, and nothing in it is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything.

Figures shown in the Service, including currency conversions and statistics, are for your information only. Decisions you make based on them are your own responsibility. For advice about your situation, consult a qualified professional.

Imports are read by AI and can contain errors

When you import a bank statement or a receipt, the Service uses artificial intelligence to extract dates, amounts, currencies and descriptions from the file. The result is a set of drafts for you to review, and this reading can be wrong: amounts can be misread, rows can be missed, currencies and dates can be picked incorrectly.

You are responsible for reviewing drafts against the original document before publishing them. Your bank's own statement remains the authoritative record of your account, and we do not guarantee that data extracted from a document is complete or correct.

Your content stays yours

The records you create and the files you upload (together, "your content") remain yours. We claim no ownership of them.

So that the Service can work, you grant the Operator a licence to store, process and display your content, strictly to the extent needed to provide the Service to you and to the people you share with. This includes sending the contents of uploaded documents to the AI provider named in the Privacy Policy so they can be read. The Privacy Policy names the current provider, and we may replace it or add another as described there. The licence ends when the content is deleted.

You are responsible for making sure you are allowed to upload what you upload, for example when a statement covers a joint account.

Sharing with people you invite

Some features let you connect with other people and share budgets or events with them. What you share is visible to the people you share it with, as described in the feature itself. You decide whom to invite, and you can stop sharing at any time.

The Operator is not responsible for what people you invited do with information you chose to share with them.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service for anything unlawful;
  • try to access accounts or data that are not yours;
  • upload files designed to harm the Service or other systems;
  • probe, overload, scrape or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure;
  • resell the Service or misrepresent your affiliation with it.

If you break these rules, we may suspend or close your account as described under "Ending your use of the service".

Fees

The Service is currently free of charge.

We may introduce paid plans or paid features in the future. If a feature you already use is going to require payment, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance, and you will be able to export your data and close your account before any charge applies. We will never charge you without your explicit agreement to a price.

Availability and changes to the service

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We work to keep it running and correct, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or always available, and we may change, add or remove features as the Service evolves.

If we ever decide to shut the Service down entirely, we will give you reasonable advance notice and the opportunity to export your data.

Ending your use of the service

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.

We may suspend or close your account if you materially breach these Terms, if the law requires it, or if keeping the account would harm the Service or its users. Unless the breach is serious or the law prevents it, we will warn you first and give you a chance to respond.

What happens to your personal data when an account is closed is described in the Privacy Policy.

Intellectual property

The Service itself, including its software, design, name and documentation, belongs to the Operator or its licensors. These Terms give you the right to use the Service, not any other rights in it.

Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts liability that cannot be excluded under Dutch law, including liability for damage caused by intent or deliberate recklessness of the Operator.

Beyond that, and given that the Service is provided free of charge, the Operator is not liable for indirect damage, lost profits, lost savings or loss of data, nor for decisions you make based on information shown in the Service, including data extracted from documents by AI. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is capped at EUR 100 per event.

If you use the Service as a consumer, your mandatory statutory rights are not affected by this section.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the Service changes. If a change meaningfully affects your rights, we will notify you by email or inside the Service at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, the updated Terms apply. If you do not agree with a change, you can close your account before it takes effect.

The date of the latest version is shown at the top of this page.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes are decided by the competent court in the Netherlands.

If you live in the European Union, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of your own country, and you may bring a claim in your own country's courts where those rules allow it. The European Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

If one part of these Terms turns out to be invalid, the rest remains in force.
