Track Your Spending, Budget by Budget
A budget in SavingStat is a container you name and can share. Spending flows into it from your imports, and the month shows what went through each one.
What a budget is here
A budget is a container you name: it has an owner, the members you invite, the categories its spending has turned out to use, and totals for what has gone through it. It is how spending is grouped.
It does not ask you to name a number in advance and then measure you against it. It shows you what actually went through, which is the number worth knowing.
Filled by imports, not by hand
Every imported statement row and photographed receipt arrives with a budget already suggested, so budgets fill themselves as you import. You correct the odd row during review instead of filing each one by hand.
The monthly picture
Spending breaks down by budget and by category, income is shown next to it, and each month carries a daily chart. Shared budgets are included, so the household view is whole.

Budgets you can share
Invite someone by email and share a budget with them. They see the same spending you do and add to it from their side. The shared budget page walks through how that works.

Common questions
Is a budget here a monthly allowance?
No. A budget is a named group your spending flows into. It records what went through it rather than measuring you against a number.
How does spending get into a budget?
Imports suggest a budget for every row, and you correct anything that lands wrong during review.
Can I see what a budget was spent on?
Yes. A budget shows the categories its spending has used and totals for what has gone through it.
Can two people use one budget?
Yes. Invite someone by email and both of you read the same figures.
