Ask an AI Assistant What You Spent, and Have It Keep the Record
Connect SavingStat to the assistant you already talk to. It answers from your real transactions rather than a figure you had to look up first, and it can write the record back when you tell it to.
Asking is faster than looking
The question you actually have is rarely one a screen answers. "Am I spending more on eating out than I was in spring?" is three filters and some arithmetic in most finance apps, so it goes unasked.
With SavingStat connected, you ask it. The assistant reads your wallets, transactions, budgets and statistics, works the answer out, and shows you the figures it used. Follow-up questions cost nothing, which is the part that changes how often you ask.
Recording by describing
The other half is putting things in. Tell the assistant you paid forty euros for a haircut this morning and it records the transaction, in the right wallet, on the right date, filed under the category you use for it.
It can also fix what is already there. Correct an amount you typed wrong, move a transaction to the category it belonged in, rename a wallet, or clear out a duplicate.
It sees your account and nobody else's
Connecting is a permission you grant to your own account, and every request the assistant makes is checked against that account before anything comes back. There is no view that spans people.
A budget you share with someone appears exactly as it appears to you: the shared budget, not that person's own records. This is enforced where SavingStat already enforces it for the web app, so the rules are the same ones your dashboard follows.
Reading and writing are separate permissions
When you connect, SavingStat asks what the assistant may do, and the two are separate. Approve reading alone and it can answer questions and nothing else: an attempt to add, change or delete anything is refused.
That is the setting to pick if you mainly want answers. Approve writing when you want the assistant keeping the records for you, and read how changes are confirmed before you do.
Nothing changes without being described first
An assistant cannot change anything in one step. Before it adds, edits or deletes, it asks SavingStat what that would do, and gets back a description rather than a completed action. It is expected to show you that description and wait.
Deleting is permanent, and deleting a transaction moves the wallet balance back. Most assistants also ask your permission in their own window before contacting SavingStat at all. Leave that switched on, because it is the check that is genuinely yours.
Which assistants this works with
Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini connect to SavingStat, and so does LM Studio, which runs a model on your own computer rather than in somebody's cloud.
Nothing is installed and nothing runs on your machine for the hosted ones. You give the assistant one address, sign in to SavingStat once, and approve what it may do. Your settings list what you have connected and let you cut any of it off without the app's cooperation, and the records it made stay, because they are yours.
Common questions
Which assistants can I connect?
Claude on any plan, including the free one. ChatGPT needs developer mode, which is a paid-plan feature, and on individual Plus and Pro accounts a connector can only read, not record. Gemini through its CLI rather than its website. LM Studio if you run a model on your own computer. The connection is a standard one, so other assistants that add outside services by address should work too.
Can the assistant see other people's transactions?
No. The permission is tied to your account and every request is checked against it. A budget you share appears as the shared budget, never as the other person's own records.
Can I let it read without letting it change anything?
Yes, and it is the safer default. Reading and changing are approved separately when you connect. An assistant approved for reading only is refused if it tries to add, edit or delete.
Will it change something without asking me?
It has to describe the change first and wait for you to agree. Deleting is permanent and moves the wallet balance back, so keep your assistant's own confirmation prompt switched on as well.
Do I need to install anything?
No. You paste one address into the assistant, sign in to SavingStat, and approve access. Nothing runs on your computer unless you have chosen to run the model there yourself.
How do I disconnect it?
Disconnect it in your SavingStat settings, where connected apps are listed with what each one can do. Access stops at once and you do not need the app itself. Doing it from the assistant's own settings works too. Either way, transactions it recorded stay in your account, because they are your records.
